*THE SCHOOL JOURNEY 1*
*Episode 24*
Tolani introduced herself to her bunk mate, as she climbed the bunk to stay on her bed. Tara was given Pharmacology, a gentle Lady and always on her own. She loved her privacy so much, as she and Tolani hardly had time for each other.
She was a Muslim by birth but she claimed to be a Christian, as she attended a Christian secondary school which increased her knowledge about Christ. How they started talking to each other, was a miracle. Tolani and Tara became close as they attended lectures together and they understood each other. Though she was older than her but, it was not obvious as they relate with each other without minding the age differences.
100 levels was stressful due to the registration processes, trekking from the hostel to the lecture room under the hot sun, waking up early to sit at the front row but, it was the best level ever because of the allowance and foodstuffs her parents always send without requesting for them.
She could buy anything she wanted and also gave out her foodstuffs sometimes, to the less privileged. Every course she offered for both semesters were advanced secondary school subjects, just a slight difference with the GNS courses. The Examination period, was one of the most strenuous time as she had to read well to build her G.P.
The exam result came out, and she was scared to check her results as she asked Tara to help her. You had Cs and Bs, Tara told her.
Her facial expression changed and Tara asked her What happened?
"Why Cs and Bs, where are the As. Those questions were too simple and I expected more than that" Tolani said as she looked at Tara whose eyes were filled with tears.
"What happened? How was your result? She asked her, out of sympathy as she came down from her bed. Instead of replying her, she busted into tears.
She wiped her tears and said "I had Cs and Bs, struggling to hold her tears as Tolani said "Wow, we had similar result without allowing her to finish her statement but Tara continued but, I had F in Physics. I don't understand, we read together. Why is my own different?
"What! How can that happen? Tolani said as she consoled her. Part of her was grateful for her results as she prayed to God to help her.
In the midnight, Tolani just ended her call with Ayomide, as she had been busy during the day but the sound of someone crying, distracted her from sleeping. She searched around, only to find out it was Tara. She came down from the bunk to her.
"Why are you doing this to yourself? You know, there is nobody to complain too, only God can help. Crying would only cause more harm, you will have to read more and I pray God help us" she said.
Tara nodded her head as she cleaned her tears, with her cloth and they slept together. Tara woke up with swollen eyes and everyone kept asking her what happened? She dressed up to attend the orientation class.
Few days after, they were given time to vacate the hostel. Tolani, called her parents to inform them and they promised to pick her the next day. She wished she could stop going home, because of the peace she experienced in school but she does not have a choice.
The next day, her parents arrived early because of the journey ahead. Tolani introduced Tara to them and they loved her. They loved her gentleness and calmness.
Tara assisted in carrying her bags, into the car as she was also expecting her parents. She waved them as they zoomed off.
Tolani's sisters were happy to see her, as they hugged her and helped her with her luggages.
"How was school? Mrs Alabi asked as they got inside the house.
"Fine ma" she replied.
"How are your results? Mr Alabi asked as she replied slowly as her heart beat increased "Good sir".
Stay with me as we journey together.
